About Barton
The Barton College Bulldogs are on a two-game losing streak heading into the matchup. On the offensive end, the team is led by Dylan Scaranda who upholds a .333 batting average along with seven runs and 10 RBIs. Andre Machado is also swinging a hot bat with his .326 batting average and seven RBIs. On the defensive end Jared Davis, a Junior Pitcher who's undefeated on the season and only allows his opponents a batting average of .227. The Bulldogs are led by Head Coach, Keith Gorman who is in his second year as Barton Head Baseball Coach in 2021. Last season, the Bulldogs finished 12-12 overall in Gorman's initial (abbreviated) season. Gorman took over as Bulldogs' mentor after leading Cumberland County (N.J.) College to the 2019 NJCAA Division III National Championship. For his efforts, Gorman was named the 2019 ABCA/Diamond National Coach of the Year for NJCAA Division III.

The Barton baseball team (8-8) rallied from a six-run deficit to defeat Virginia State (7-9), 12-8, Tuesday afternoon at Nixon Field. Barton senior outfielder Noah Almond (Raleigh, N.C.) hit two home runs and finished with four runs batted in while senior catcher Brayden Olson (Spokane, Wash.) broke an eight-all tie with the game-winning, two-run double in the seventh inning to lead the Bulldogs to the win.
