ETTRICK, VA (June 1, 2020)- During a time where remote learning and social distancing is the norm, Virginia State University Athletics continues to stay committed to their mission of developing academic and athletic champions!
Earning the distinguished honor of being a 2020 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Athlete are six VSU Trojan scholar-athletes.
In line with the Trojans mission, the Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports Scholars Award, sponsored by The Diverse: Issues In Higher Education magazine, honors undergraduate students who have excelled in the classroom as well as on the athletic field. In addition to their athletic ability, the students named 2020 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars have maintained a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5, are at least a sophomore academically, and have been active on their campuses or in their communities. In addition to their athletic ability, students named Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars must exhibit academic excellence as well as community activism.
