ETTRICK, VA (September 25, 2019)- The Virginia State University Trojans football team will return to Rogers Stadium on September 28 to take on the Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith University. Kick-off is set for 6pm.
The Trojans are coming off of a 34-7 win over the St. Augustine's Falcons, moving VSU to a 2-1 season record. The Golden Bulls are currently 1-2 on the season after falling to Virginia Union, 33-19.
After beginning the series in 1921, the 34-12-5 record rules in favor of VSU.
Leading VSU offensively is the CIAA Week 3 Offensive Back of the Week, Demetrius Strickland, with an overall 48 carries for 276 yards, averaging 5.7 yards per carry, and 3 touchdowns. Quarterback Cordelral Cook has completed 31-of-57 passes for 362 yards and 2 touchdowns. For the Golden Bulls, running back Emanuel Wilson has tallied 57 carries for 471 yards, averaging 8.3 yards per carry and 5 touchdowns.
Defensively, Na'Shawn Reid-Carlos leads the Trojans with 15 total tackles (13 solo, 2 assisted), while JCSU's Davis Francis has collected 21 total tackles (11 solo, 10 assisted).
