Box Score MARION, NC- A walk-off left the Virginia State Trojans baseball team on the wrong end of an 11-10 matchup against the Rams of Winston-Salem State University on May 3.
Winston Salem took an early lead in the second inning when Daniels grounded out, scoring one run.
The Trojans fell behind by four runs in the sixth inning, but tried to battle back by scoring four runs in the failed comeback on an error and a single by Jahleel Sewer.
VSU knotted the game up at ten in the top of the eighth inning, when Sewer singled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs.
The game was tied at ten with WSSU batting in the bottom of the ninth when Parks singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Despite the effort, the Trojans fell short of a win, 11-10, against the Rams.
VSU hit two home runs on the day, both in the 6th inning. Brian Goodwyn led the charge, while Kevin Russell had a four bagger in the inning.
The Trojans collected nine hits on the day. Sewer and Russell had multiple hits, with Sewer pacing the game with three hits in four at bats.
Scott started the game on the mound for WSSU. He surrendered ten runs on eight hits over seven and two-thirds innings, striking out eight.
Jason Martinez started the game on the hill for VSU. He went two innings, allowing six runs on seven hits and walked one. Dylan Wells took the loss for the Trojans after lasting three innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out one.
