ETTRICK, VA (March 28, 2019)- The VSU women's tennis team continues to overpower their CIAA Northern Division competition after defeating Virginia Union (VUU) Panthers,7-0, at the VSU Tennis Complex.

The Trojans no.1 doubles pair, Sydney Yao and Kaela Mack, swept VUU's Sabrina Conner and Michaela Mondesir with a score of 6-0. VSU's no.2 doubles pair, Christina Washington and Felicia Tucker, followed suit with a 6-0 score over the Panthers Alyssa White and Jordan Parker. Although Zimaris Smith and Deja Lovitt, VSU's no. 3 doubles pair, gave the Panthers a chance to gain 2 points, the Trojans bounced back for a 6-2 win.

Dominating the court in the singles matchup were VSU's no 2 and 3, Kaela Mack and Christina Washington. They both secure a 6-0 score in their matches over VUU. The Trojans no. 1, Sydney Yao secured a 6-1, 6-2 win, while no. 4 Felicia Tucker went 6-2, 6-1 against the Panthers. VSU's no. 5 Zimaris Smith took down VUU with two 6-3 matches, while no. 6 Deja Lovitt rounded up the matchup with a 6-0, 6-3 victory.

The Trojans remain undefeated in the CIAA Northern Division with a 4-0 record, while they are 5-1 in the conference and 6-1 overall on the season.

Under the leadership of head coach Donald Raspberry, the Trojans will take on University of the District of Columbia on Saturday March 30 at the VSU Tennis Complex. The non-conference matchup is set for a 1pm serve.
