ETTRICK, Va. (February 1, 2019) – The Virginia State University men's and women's basketball teams will host the Lions of Lincoln University (LUPA) at the VSU Multipurpose Center on Saturday, Feb. 2. The women's game will tipoff at 2:00 p.m., followed by the men's game at 4:00 p.m.

The Women's Game: The Trojans (9-10, 3-7 CIAA, 1-3 North) secured a 53-51 victory over the Bulldogs of Bowie State University, 53-51, at the A.C. Jordan Arena on Jan. 30. The Trojans were led offensively by
Autumn Hopson and
Shayln Washington with both adding 11 points each respectively. Senior
Chrisanna Green finished the contest with a double-double performance posting 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Aja Robertson contributed nine points.
Yazmen Hannah came off the Virginia State bench to record seven points.
The Lincoln women's basketball team (12-10, 6-5 CIAA, 3-1 North) secured a 77-51 victory over the Hawks of Chowan University on Jan. 30. Spencer led all scorers with 21 points (7-13 FG, 6-7 FT).
DeeDee Irwin (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville Area) added 13 points and a career-high seven rebounds. DeAshia Young and
Kwanza Murray (Summerville, S.C./Summerville (Lackawanna College)) added 12 and 11 points respectively. Murray and Spencer also tied Irwin for the team lead with seven rebounds apiece.
Taylor King (Lorton, Va./Hayfield Secondary School) had a career-high seven points off the bench
The last time the two schools met was last season where the Trojans collected victories over the Lady Lions on Feb. 3, 2018 and Feb. 24, 2018 (76-71, 64-56).
The Men's Game: The Trojans (18-3, 10-0 CIAA, 4-0 North) defeated the Bulldogs of Bowie State University, 84-67, at the A.C. Jordan Arena on Jan. 30. The duo of
Jahmere Howze and
Cedric Wiggins posted a dominant performance, finishing with 22 and 14 points, respectively. Howze added four rebounds, while Wiggins finished with two rebounds and two assists.
Cyonte Melvin rounded out the double digits scoring for the Trojans contributing 12 points, five rebound, four assists and two steals.
LU men (12-10, 5-6 CIAA, 1-3 North) fell to the Hawks of Chowan University 89-85 in overtime on Jan. 30 at the Helms Center.
Cameron Campbell (Fayetteville, N.C./Trinity Christian) led all players with 25 points while
Zahrion Blue (Princeton, N.J./Princeton) recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 21 points and 12 rebounds.
Jordan Camper (Chester, Pa./Chester) and
Tamir Green (Philadelphia, Pa./Constitution) chipped in 13 and 11 points respectively.
Deaquan Williams (Camden, N.J./Camden) narrowly missed out on his fourth straight double-double posting eight points while grabbing a team-high 14 rebounds. Green led all players with seven assists and five steals.
The last time the two schools met was last season where the Trojans collected victories over the Lions on Feb. 3, 2018 and Feb. 24, 2018 (60-52, 55-53).
