Box Score ETTRICK, Va. – Virginia State University's women's tennis four-match winning streak was snapped by Winston-Salem State University on Thursday afternoon, as the Trojans suffered a 5-4 defeat at home.
The Trojans (8-4) had a 2-1 advantage after doubles competition. At the No. 1 doubles, junior Sydney Yao (Alexandria, VA) and senior Tamisha Richardson (Anguilla, Caribbean) collected a 8-6 victory, while sophomore Felicia Tucker (Smithfield, VA) and sophomore Christina Washington (Norfolk, VA) were the 8-6 victors at the No. 2 doubles.
Freshman Deja Lovitt (Mount Vernon, NY) and sophomore Katlyn Kearney (Norfolk, VA) fell 8-6 at the No. 3 doubles. In singles, the Trojans were defeated at No. 1, No. 2, No.4 and No. 5 singles as the Rams (7-6) came away with the win over Virginia State.
Next up, Virginia State University will host the Panthers of Virginia Union University at home on April 6. The first serve is slated for 3 p.m. at the VSU Tennis Complex.
