Box Score 2 CHARLOTTE, NC – The Virginia State University men's tennis team secured two victories over host Johnson C. Smith University (6-3, 7-2) on the road on Monday afternoon to close out the regular season. The Trojans end the season with a 5-6 overall record, while the Golden Bulls end the 2018 season with a 2-20 overall record.
Virginia State swept the Golden Bulls in doubles and singles competition, including 8-1 victories in doubles No. 2-3 to take an early 2-1.
Sultan Kenes posted a 6-1, 6-3 win at the number two singles and teamed up with
Marcus Smith yielding an 8-5 loss at the number one doubles to lead the men.
The Trojans also got a singles win from
Jonathan Fuchs at the number three singles spot, 6-0, 6-2. Fuchs and
Josh McFadden teamed up for a victory at the number two doubles while
Josh McFadden collected the victory at the number four singles spot. Closing things out for VSU was
Alexzander Walker coming away with the victory at the number six spot.
Virginia State remained consistent on the court returning for match two. The Trojans collected (8-4) victories in doubles No. 2-3 to take an early 2-1.
