Box Score ETTRICK, Va. – The Virginia State University men's tennis team yielded a 8-1 decision to the Huskies of Bloomsburg University today at Burt Reese Tennis Center. With the loss, the Trojans move to a 3-6 overall record while the Huskies improves to 5-8 season record.
Saturday's clash was the first meeting between the two teams, with Bloomsburg securing the home 8-1 advantage. Today's matchup was not an easy task for the Trojans as they trailed 3-0 after doubles competition.
Bloomsburg's Lucas Pedrotti and Bernardo Abreu came away with the 8-2 victory in the no.1 doubles competition. Guillermo Carranza and Nagid Walle secured a 8-5 victory, followed by Robin Luetzig and Vinicius Ribeiro collecting a 8-4 win, giving BU a 3-0 advantage heading into singles competition.
Bloomsburg University secured five victories in the singles contest.
Sultan Kenes collected a 6-3, 6-1 victory at the No. 2 singles for Virginia State. The Trojans put up a fight but the Huskies were able to take the 8-1 match victory.
VSU will close out the season on the road as they travel to Charlotte, N.C. for a contest against Johnson C. Smith University in double header action. First serve is set for 10 a.m. on April 16.
