Box Score 2 ETTRICK, Va. (April 13, 2018) - The Virginia State University women's tennis team picked up their 10th win of the 2018 season with a 9-0 victory over Elizabeth City State University on Thursday afternoon. The Trojans (10-4, 7-3 CIAA, 5-0 North) have turned things around since the loss to Winston-Salem State University. The Lady Vikings of Elizabeth City State slid to a 2-7 overall record, 2-7 in the CIAA.
Virginia State swept the Lady Vikings in doubles and singles competition, including 8-0 and 8-1 victories in doubles No. 1-3 to go ahead 3-0 early.
Junior Sydney Yao (Alexandria, Virginia) won a 8-0, 8-0 decision at No. 1 singles for the Trojans, while sophomore Christina Washington (Norfolk, Virginia) was a 8-0, 8-0 victor at No. 2 singles. Senior Tamisha Richardson (Anguilla, Caribbean) topped her opponent, 8-0, 8-0 at No. 3 singles while sophomore Felicia Tucker (Smithfield, Virginia) picked up a 8-0, 8-0 victory at No. 4 singles. Freshman Deja Lovitt (Mount Vernon, New York) was the winner at No. 5 singles and senior Charde Washington (Caroline County, Virginia) won at No. 6 singles.
Virginia State will close out the regular season on Saturday, April 14 against Bloomsburg and Kutztown Universities. The match is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. in Bloomsburg, Pa.
