Box Score ETTRICK, Va. – The Virginia State University Trojans women's tennis team secured a home victory over the Tigers of Salem University 7-2.
Doubles competition were led by
Sydney Yao and Tamisha Richardson at the No. 1 position, as the dynamic duo eliminated SU players Alaina Weltz and Waverly Federico, 8-1. In the No. 2 doubles position,
Christina Washington and
Felicia Tucker came out on top against Anna Kovalova and Jennifer Perez with a score of 8-5. In the No. 3 spot
Deja Loviett and
Katlyn Kearney fell to Brianna Vasquez and Kristina Vuksanovic, 8-5.
On the singles side, five Trojans rolled to set victories from the No. 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6 positions. The 7-2 match victory becomes the team's third win of the 2018 spring campaign.
With the victory, the Trojans improve to a 3-2 overall record. They'll return to action on March 24 as they look to host the Lady Bears of Shaw University. First serve is schedules for 10 a.m. at the VSU Tennis Complex.
