ETTRICK, Va. (September 28, 2017) – Coming off a big 33-27 overtime victory over conference rival Winston-Salem State University last weekend, the Virginia State University football team will continue their 2017 season and Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Conference (CIAA) action by traveling to Salisbury, N.C., to face the Blue Bears of Livingstone College on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 6 p.m. at Alumni Memorial Stadium.

During their last matchup in 2016, the Trojans secured a 47-0 victory over the Blue Bears. In 2009, the results were in favor of the Trojans, who won the contest 37-7.
The Teams:
The Trojans (3-0, 1-0 CIAA) are coming off a 33-27 victory in its 2017 season home opener against the Rams of Winston-Salem State University.
VSU finished the competition with 365 total rushing yards, 587 total offensive yards, and 222 passing yards. Individually, Cook threw for 171 yards and one score on a 10-of-23 effort. Trenton Cannon was the lead receiver, catching three passes for 52 yards and two touchdowns. Cannon led the Trojans on the ground, rushing 21 times for 155 yards.
Defensively, Brandon Lynch had seven tackles and two tackle for loss. Malik Sexton, Michael Harris, Kurtis Brooks, and Diontae Bruce contributed four tackles each.
Livingstone College (0-4) is coming off a 12-25 loss to Chowan University last weekend. They were led offense by Justin Ruffin who secured a single touchdown and rush for 93 net yards. Defensively, Jarod Richardson and Dominic Alexander led the Blue Bears with 6 total tackles each.
