Charlotte, N.C. – The Virginia State Trojans (8-5, 4-2 CIAA) men's tennis team showed up to play as they traveled to face the Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith University securing a (9-0, 7-0) victory yesterday afternoon.
 
Match One:
Sultan Kenes and Jonathan Fuchs defeated JSCU's Robert Anderson and Tarick Miller from the No. 1 doubles position, 8-1, to set the tone for the Trojans. Marcus Smith /Alexzander Walker won the No. 2 doubles for VSU, 8-4, and Blaine Davies/Keon Halley defeated JCSU's R. Andrews and Gerald Miller in the No. 3 doubles position, 9-8 (7).

Sultan Kenes secured a victory for VSU, (8-0), in the No. 1 single spot. Followed by Marcus Smith coming out on top for VSU, (8-6) in the No. 2 single spot. The Trojans' No. 3 Jonathan Fuchs, No. 4 Blaine Davies, No. 5 Alexzander Walker, and No. 6 Keon Halley all coasted past their opponents to give the team the 9-0 match win over the Golden Bulls. The Trojans improved to its seventh victory and its third conference victory of the 2017 campaign.


Match Two:
The VSU Trojans entered match two with the same momentum with Sultan Kenes and Jonathan Fuchs defeated JSCU's Robert Anderson and Tarick Miller from the No. 1 doubles position, 8-3, to set the tone for the Trojans. Marcus Smith /Alexzander Walker won the No. 2 doubles for VSU, 8-1, and Blaine Davies/Keon Halley defeated JCSU's R. Andrews and Gerald Miller in the No. 3 doubles position, 8-6.

Sultan Kenes secured a victory for VSU, (6-0, 6-1), in the No. 1 single spot. Followed by Marcus Smith coming out on top for VSU, (6-3, 6-1) in the No. 2 single spot. The Trojans' No. 4 Blaine Davies, and No. 5 Alexzander Walker coasted past their opponents to give the team the 7-0 match win over the Golden Bulls. The Trojans improved to its eighth victory and its fourth conference victory of the 2017 campaign.

Virginia State will travel for its final match of the season as they face the Hawks of Chowan University for a Central intercollegiate Athletic Association match up on Tuesday, April 11th at 3pm.
