Box Score 2 Thomasville, N.C. - The Virginia State University baseball team surrendered a four game loss to the Ram of Winston-Salem State University at Finch Field this weekend.
The Trojans come into the game after a tough four games loss to the Rams of Winston-Salem State University. The Trojans kicked things off with sophomore
Sisqo Scott (Hampton, VA) recording an RBI on a homerun to right field, securing an early 1-0 lead for VSU. The Rams answered with Randy Norris double recording two RBIs, scoring McRae and McNamara taking a 3-0 lead. Followed by Brandon Ford double recording a RBI, scoring Norris. Ivan Acuna homerun brought home Abreu and Ford, recording 3 RBIs for the Rams.
The Rams led 6-1 at the end of the second inning. VSU continued to rally with Scott reaching on a fielder's choice, with Diamond adding a run. In the fifth inning Scott secured another homerun bringing Taylor across the plate. Hinton (Dinwiddie, VA) singled advancing Gunn and scoring Sewer, adding an RBI in the books. The final inning of the competition Taylor (Richmond, VA) capitalized on an error by the pitcher advancing Diamond and Liburd, scoring Shell bringing the score 6-17. Liburd (Suffolk, VA) came across the plate to add the final run for Virginia State.
In game two the Rams entered the second game with confidence with the win from the first game. The Rams secured an early lead by adding run in the first three innings of the competition. The Trojans added it's only run of the game in the fourth inning with Rowe (Petersburg, VA) single bringing Markins across the plate. The Rams then added two run in the bottom of the sixth inning securing the victory.

In game three the Trojans added four runs in the second inning, sparked by a three run double from
David Markins (Colonial Heights, VA). Virginia State answered with one run in the top of the fifth, but WSSU answered that with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Ivan Acuna hit a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Randy Norris and Landon Steiner doubled to right, scoring Brandon Ford, to give the Rams the final score of 13-5.

Wrapping up the final game of the series the Rams put the game away early, as they would score six first inning runs. The first three batters all reached base, and Ivan Acuna singled, scoring Norris. Brandon Ford would score on a wild pitch. John Garcia reached on an error form the left fielder, allowing Abreu and Acuna to score. And finally, Willie McRae tripled, scoring Garcia and McNamara.
The final scoring of this game came in the bottom of the second inning, when Brandon Ford led off the inning with a solo home run to left securing the victory. VSU remained scoreless during this competition.
The Trojans will host the Falcons of St. Augustine's University for a four game series this weekend. The double header on Saturday will begin at 1 pm and the final doubleheader games on Sunday with first pitch slated for 1pm.
