Bowie, Md. – The Virginia State Trojans (11-3, 7-2 CIAA) outlasted the Lady Bulldogs of Bowie State University in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association conference match up this afternoon, 9-0.
Doubles competition was led by
Sheila James and
Sydney Yao at the No. 1 position, as the dynamic duo eliminated BSU players Dainese Smothers and Kamari Eason, 8-1. In the No. 2 doubles position,
Tamisha Richardson and
Christina Washington came out on top against Kionza Allen and Jocelyn Williams by a score of 8-1. In the No. 3 spot
Charde Washington and
Felicia Tucker won by forfeit.
On the singles side, six Trojans rolled to one-set wins, including 8-0, and 8-1 results from the No. 1 and 2 positions. The 9-0 match victory becomes the team's eleventh win of the 2017 spring campaign.
VSU will travel to face the Hawks of Chowan University in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association match up on Tuesday, Apr. 11
