ETTRICK, VA -- The Virginia State University women's tennis team dropped to the visiting Hawks of Chowan University in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association matchup, 9-0, at Virginia State University Tennis Complex this afternoon.
The Trojans (8-2, 4-1 CIAA) started the match strong but was overtaken by the Hawks (9-6, 5-0 CIAA). VSU kept up the momentum throughout the entire match not giving up the victory easily.
"Today's competition was a great one for us despite the loss" said VSU head coach Linda Person. "Chowan who is having a great season played a really good game. I am proud of our girls' effort because they had to really pull together and compete hard. It was a great day for us."
VSU will face the Broncos (1-4, 1-4 CIAA) on Saturday at 9 a.m., followed by a matchup with the Lady Bears of Shaw University (9-1, 5-0 CIAA) on Sunday at 9 a.m.
