RALEIGH, NC- The VSU Trojan men's tennis team dropped to the Shaw University Bears during the semifinals of the CIAA Championship on April 29 at the Millbrook Tennis Center in Raleigh, NC.

The Trojans had a bye on the first day of the CIAA Championship, was the entered the bracket with a 7-6 overall record. 4-4 in the conference.

VSU was unable to gain a point over the Bears, taking a 5-0 loss.

This season the team was represented by the rookie Sultan Kenes (Almaty, Kazakhstan) who not only earned a place on the All-CIAA conference team but was named Rookie of the Year.
