Women's Tennis Split with CIAA Opponents on the Road

MURFREESBORO, NC- The Virginia State University women's tennis team split with the Chowan Hawks and the Fayetteville State Lady Broncos on the road on April 13.

In match 1, the Trojans took a 6-3 loss to the Hawks.

Several defaults and forfeits were put in place as the Trojans secured singles #1 and #2 due to a forfeit while the Hawks took single #6 and double #3 with a default.

The Trojans gained their additional point in what Head Coach Linda Person calls "the most impressive match of the game." Rookie Sydney Yao and junior Sheila James fought hard in the #1 doubles. They were able to rally back after 2 sets with a 7-6 tiebreaker win.

VSU dominated the court in game 2 against the Lady Broncos with a final score of 7-2.

Defaults on the Trojans gave FSU their only 2 points of the match. VSU undoubtedly overpowered the Lady Broncos in their respective sets.

As the season rapidly comes to an end, VSU is preparing for the 2016 CIAA Championships on April 28-30 in Charlotte, NC.

VSU will be back in action for two matches against the Lady Vikings of Elizabeth City State University on April 14. The first serve will be at 3pm at the VSU Tennis Complex.
