ETTRICK, Va.- The Virginia State University men's tennis team had a conference, non-conference split on March 17. In game 1, the Trojans fell to Chowan, 9-0, and took down Salem International, 6-3, in game 2.
In game 1, the Trojans were unable to gain a set win during the conference matchup against the Chowan Hawks.
VSU redeemed themselves in game 2, dominated all 3 doubles games.
Rookie
Sultan Kenes was able to survive the first single sets after falling short in the second set.
Taking a back to back loss in singles 2 and 3 were rookie
Marcus Smith and senior
Delwin McCurdy.
Rookies
Jonathan Fuchs and Alexander Walker where able to conquer Salem International, taking their respective single sets.
After a tough 3 sets, rookie
Keon Halley was not able to seal the deal in the final singles matchup of the day.
The Trojans move to a 6-1 overall record.
VSU will be back in action on March 20 for a CIAA Roundup in Murfreesboro, NC. The Trojans will face the Bears of Shaw University at 9am and 1pm.
