Women’s Tennis Falls short in Conference Play

ETTRICK, Va.- The VSU women's tennis team currently have a 6-2 overall record after falling to the Hawks of Chowan University on March 19  at the VSU Tennis Complex.

Senior Sharmane Tonkins and rookie Tamisha Richardson took down the Hawks in a double set with a score of 8-6.

Tonkins stepped up in the singles overpowering Chowan's Jessy DeBackre with set scores of 5-7, 6-3, 10-4.  Richardson outlasted Chowan's Straffai Cleveland with a 2 set sweep of 6-1, 6-2.

At the conclusion of the tennis match the Trojans lost with an overall score of 6-3.

VSU will be back in action on March 21-22 for the CIAA Roundup in Murfreesboro, NC.
