ETTRICK, Va.- The Virginia State University Football team will travel to Lincoln, PA to take on the Lincoln University Lions on Saturday, October 24 at 1 p.m.
The Trojans currently hold a 4-3 overall record, 2-2 in the conference while the Lions are 3-4 on the season, 1-3 in the conference.
The last meeting between the two teams last season at VSU homecoming where the Trojans dominated the Lions, 63 - 7..
Sophomore running back
Trenton Cannon leads the Trojan offense recording 879 total rushing yards, averaging 125.6 per game. Cannon is second in the CIAA for rushing yard per games trailing the Lions running back Stephen Scott who leads the CIAA with 1,018 total rushing yards,145.4 per game.
Defensively the Trojans are lead by junior linebacker
Geo Feggins who has recorded 56 total tackles and 3.5 sacks this season. Wadel Louis leads the Lions defense recording 40 total tackles and a single sack.
The Trojans were predicted to finish second overall in the CIAA and first in the Northern Division. The Lions were predicted to finish twelfth in the CIAA Conference and sixth in the Northern division.
The Virginia State Department of Athletics annual 1,000 cans, 1 goal campaign initiative is underway. The canned food items collected will be donated to the local food banks. The Department encourages all fans, alumni, faculty and friends to bring a canned food item to all of the home volleyball and football games this season.
