ETTRICK, Va.- The Virginia State University Trojans will host the Bowie State University Bulldogs for VSU Homecoming 2015 this Saturday, October 17 at 2 p.m. in Rogers Stadium.
The Trojans and the Bulldogs are well acquainted in homecoming football match ups. The Trojans upset the Bulldogs, 24-14, last season when the two teams met in Bowie, MD for the Bulldogs homecoming. In 2013, the Trojans survived a triple overtime win, 47-44, over the Bulldogs at VSU's homecoming.
VSU was selected to finish second overall in the CIAA and first in the Northern Division. The Bulldogs were predicted to finish fifth overall and third in the Northern Division.
Sophomore running back
Trenton Cannon (Hampton, VA) leads the Trojans offensively recording 727 yards on the season and 6 touchdowns. Defensively the Trojans are led by junior linebacker
Geo Feggins (South Hill, VA) who has recorded 44 tackles on the season (31 solo), 5.5 for losses, and 3.5 sacks.
The Bulldogs are led by wide receiver Nyme Manns recording 524 yards and 6 touchdowns. Kevaughan Townsend leads the BSU defense recording 62 tackles (32 solo), 4.5 for losses, and 2.5 sacks.
Game tickects and parking on campus or any VSU property are $20 each.
Tailgating spots are almost sold out! Cars and trucks are $175 while RV's and Campers are $200.
The Virginia State Department of Athletics annual 1,000 cans, 1 goal campaign initiative is underway. Canned food items collected will be donated to the local food banks. The Department encourages all fans, alumni, faculty and friends to bring a canned food item to all of the home volleyball and football games this season.
