ETTRICK, VA- The Virginia State University men's tennis team dominated the Virginia Union University Panthers in the quarter finals of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Spring Sports Championship on April 17.
Despite the chilly night air, the Trojans secured a 5-0 victory.
Virginia State started off strong as brothers Matthew and
Nicholas Brown took a 9-8 (7-4) win in the first double set.
Nicholas Pfab and
Evan Dirksen kept the same momentum, taking an 8-1 win followed by
K'Wmane Tonkins and
Delwin McCurdy with an 8-6 victory.
The Trojans finished up the match with Pfab who took a 6-1, 6-0 win in the third single set while Tonkins took a 6-0, 6-0 win in the fifth single set.
The Trojans will advance to the semifinals to take on the Shaw University Bears on April 18 at 2:00pm.
