In the CIAA Tennis Round-Up on March 15 in Ettrick, VA, the women's tennis team was one for one after falling to Shaw University and defeating Fayetteville State University.
The Trojans fell short in game one losing to the Bears 4-5. In the doubles, the team gained advantage on a forfeit.
In the single sets,
Nakesha Harry,
Sharmane Tonkins, and
Kayla Kale all won their matches and took advantage of another forfeit. After tallying up the wins, the Trojans were just one point shy of winning.
The women redeemed themselves in the second game of the day taking down the Fayetteville State University Broncos 9-0.
The Trojans finished the Round- up with a 4-1 overall record.
On Sunday, March 16, the Trojans set their sights on the Livingstone Lady Blue Bears for their 10:00AM match-up.
The women swept the doubles keeping Livingstone down 8-1 in the first two sets. A forfeit granted the Trojans the victory for the final double set.
The Lady Blue Bears jumped up to win their first and last single set against the Trojans in the match up.
Despite an automatic win for the Trojans due to another forfeit, they pulled through and won single sets two thru five scoring 6-0 in each.
Virginia State defeated Livingstone with a final score of 8-1, finishing the weekend with a 5-1 overall record.
The Trojans will go up against the Lady Panthers of Virginia Union University on March 23 at 12:00PM in Richmond, VA.
