Jordan Anderson and Coach Latrell Scott Honored by CIAA

Virginia State running back Jordan Anderson and first-year coach Latrell Scott earned CIAA recognition for their performances last week in a 28-0 whitewashing at Chowan. The victory clinched the CIAA Northern Division crown for the Trojans, who will advance to the CIAA Championship Game on Nov. 16 at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m.

The 5-foot-11, 220-pound Anderson rushed for 160 yards and three touchdowns in the victory at Chowan. The Houston, Texas native, had touchdown runs of 15, 1 and 73 yards in the contest. His 73-yard TD run gave him more than 1,000 yards rushing for the season --- only the fourth player in school history to reach the 1,000-yard plateau.

Scott was named CIAA Coach of the Week for the fourth time this season. The Trojans were picked to finish fifth in the conference's Northern Division and were named the 10th best team in the 12-team league in the preseason poll. But the Trojans enter the final week of the regular season with an 8-1 overall mark including a perfect 6-0 record in league play.

The Trojans close out the regular season on Nov. 9 at 2:00 p.m. when they host Virginia Union at Rogers Stadium.
