The 2023-24 season will mark Kevin Harris' second season as an Assistant Women's Basketball Coach at Virginia State after joining the Trojans in 2022-23 as a part of the new coaching regime under Head Coach Nadine Domond.
In his first season with VSU, Coach Harris helped lead the Trojans to an 8-8 conference record, a win in the opening round of the 2023 CIAA Women's Basketball Tournament, and he coached an All-CIAA selection (Sommer Blakemore).
Coach Harris arrived at VSU by way of Norfolk State University, where served as the Assistant Women's Basketball Coach in 2021-22. After serving as director of operations in 2020-21, Harris was elevated to assistant coach prior to this season. Harris came to NSU with coaching experience in the Hampton Roads area.
Prior to joining the Spartans, Harris was the head girls' coach at Salem High School in Virginia Beach from 2018-20. He led the SunDevils to a 29-20 record during that time and two postseason appearances. He coached a pair of first-team all-region players and three all-conference honorees. In addition, he served as a special education teacher assistant and an academic counselor for student-athletes at Salem.
He was also one of the more prestigious coaches selected to participate in the Boo Williams Summer League in Hampton since 2018 as a head girls coach. Harris also served as a professional skills trainer with Nadine Domond Basketball in Virginia Beach for three years from 2013-16, working with players from a variety of collegiate institutions, including Miami, Mississippi State, William & Mary, Navy and more.
Harris received his bachelor’s in business administration in 2016 from Bryant & Stratton College.
