Jerry Taylor Jr. enters his second season as the Wide Receivers Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for the Virginia State University Trojan Football Team. During Taylor’s first season the Trojans finished with a 9-1 overall, 7-0 conference record. The Trojans were the 2013 CIAA Northern Division Champions. Â

Taylor, a Richmond, VA native comes to VSU from St. Francis University where he coached the tight ends in 2012. From 2010-2011, Coach Taylor worked as a graduate assistant on the defensive side of the ball at the University of Richmond.Â

During the 2008 and 2009 seasons Taylor was the quarterbacks coach at Lee-Davis High School in Mechanicsville, VA.Â
Taylor played quarterback at Bowie State for two seasons before an illness ended his career. In 2012 he earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Averett University.

Taylor and his wife reside in Henrico County.
