Coach Adrian L. Taylor was named the Head Coach of the Virginia State Woo Woo Cheerleaders in 2019-20 and the 2023-24 season will mark her fifth season as head coach.
Coach Taylor previously served as an assistant coach since 2016. From 1994-1996, Coach Taylor was a member of the world-renowned VSU Woo Woo Cheerleaders and she also was a volleyball student-athlete at Virginia State. Additionally, during her undergraduate years for VSU, Taylor served as the volleyball team's statistician from 1992 to 1994.
Coach Taylor graduated from VSU and received her B.S. degree in Family and Consumer Science and her M.Ed. degree in Vocational, Technical Education. Coach Taylor also holds an Ed.S in Teacher Leadership through Walden University.
Coach Taylor comes to the VSU Athletics Woo Woo Coaching Staff with 20+ years of coaching experience. Not only has she served as a cheerleading coach at numerous schools over the years, but she has also served in the capacity of step team and dance team coach. During her undergraduate years at VSU, she started her own student organization, Aboogie Dance Troupe, and after graduation opened her own dance studio- Aboogie Dance Studio. She served as the Debutante Cotillion choreographer for the Wives of the Beaux Twenty Club (Petersburg, VA) for 15 years.
Adrian is a Full Time Certified Educator with Chesterfield County Public Schools where she teaches Culinary Arts. She is the 2014 recipient of Steve Harvey’s Neighborhood Award- Best School Teacher in the Nation and 2015 Nominee for the same title.
Although currently residing in Chester, Virginia, Coach Taylor is a proud native of Dothan, Alabama. She looks forward to keeping the Legacy of Woo Woo alive and is excited to see what the new year has in store for the VSU Woo Woo Program.
