SAAC By-Laws
The Virginia State University SAAC is an advisory organization composed of two (2) student-athletes from each sport. Currently there are 26 members with 13 having voting rights.
Mission Statement
The mission of VSU SAAC is:
· To facilitate communication about concerns, problems, or suggestions between the athletes and athletic administration.
· To promote more interaction between VSU athletics, the VSU campus, and the surrounding communities.
· To continually strive for improvement in all aspects pertaining to VSU athletics (from academics to facilities).
· Encourage unity, common purpose, and camaraderie between teams and among all athletes in the program.
· Solicit student-athlete responses to proposed conference and NCAA information
· Organize community service efforts
· Promote a positive student-athlete image on campus
Duties of SAAC:
· Attend all SAAC meetings and related events
· Serve as liaison between their respective sport and athletics administration
· Provide leadership and support to their team
· Serve on at minimum one sub-committee with active involvement
· Promote a positive student-athlete image on campus and in the community
· Assist in the growth and development of the organization
· Provide input to athletic administration for the development of policies and procedures for student-athletes
· Provide five (5) community services initiative each academic year
Meeting
· Meeting will be held once per month
· Meeting will scheduled for one hour
· A quorum must be present at all meetings
