Belmont Abbey Dominates Virginia StateĀ
Belmont, NC- The Virginia State Men's Soccer went against the Belmont Abbey Crusaders on Saturday, October 19, at 7 pm. The match-up resulted in a loss for the Trojans updated the overall to be 1-8-1 and the Crusaders to be 4-7-2 overall.

The match began with both teams eager to establish dominance, but it was Belmont Abbey that made the early moves. They pressured VSU's defense with several corner kicks and shots on goal, though none found the back of the net in the first 45 minutes. Virginia State's goalkeeper,
Xavier Brisbon, was kept busy, making crucial saves to deny BAC's attempts.
The physicality of the game was evident, with a series of fouls committed by both sides, culminating in a yellow card for VSU's
Salah Mahmoud just before the half ended. The score remained 0-0, but the stage was set for an explosive second half.
As the second half kicked off, Belmont Abbey wasted no time asserting their dominance. Ian Pitstick opened the scoring just 3 minutes in, capitalizing on a well-placed assist from Greer Hopkins and Josh Ainge. Less than three minutes later, Jorge Aguilar doubled the lead with another well-executed goal, assisted by Sam Jordan and Emrick Stanley.
The Crusaders continued to apply pressure, and a crucial moment came at 57:27 when Sam Jordan converted a penalty kick, extending Belmont's lead to 3-0. This goal further demoralized the Crusaders and showcased Belmont's relentless attack.
