SALISBURY, NC – The Virginia State football team nearly earned the shutout for the third straight week after a dominating victory over Livingstone 37-7 to move to 2-0 in conference play. The Trojans did not give up a touchdown until the fourth quarter as VSU earned their third straight win against Livingstone 37-7. The VSU defense has allowed a total of 21 points in their last three game combined while offense averages 36 points over their last three games.

- Jordan Davis threw for a career-high 251 yards along with a touchdown and an interception in the win. Davis also added a pair of rushing scores gaining 50 yards on 10 carries. He also accounted for three punts for 111 yards as his longest punt went 61 yards.
- Standout Darius Hagans earned his third straight 100 + yard game as he ran for 116 yards on 23 carries with a touchdown.
- Upton Bailey earned a season-high 79 rushing yards on 13 carries with a rushing score.
- Roy Jackson, III. reeled in four grabs for 86 yards while Tylique Ray earned four catches for 80 yards. AJ Simon caught his first career touchdown as he added two catches for 12 yards.
- Kymon Pope led the Trojans with five total tackles (four solo) while also accounting for his first sack of the season as well as a tackle-for-loss.
- Zacchaeus Laing had his breakout game as he ended with a team-high five solo tackles along with a tackle-for loss and his first career interception. TJ Tucker also caught his first interception of the season.
- Miqueal Pillow – Smiley earned five tackles (three solo), 1.5 sacks and 1.5 tackles-for-loss with a forced fumble in which he recovered himself.
- Kimo Clarke had a kickoff return for 54 yards in the contest.
- Matthew Ward gave the Trojans their first made field goal of the season from 34 yards out. Ward ended 1-2 on field goals.
- Trojans offense earned 493 total yards of total offense while accounting for 27 first downs.
- Trojans defense gave up just 158 total yards and allowed just 3 of 14 third down conversions
