ETTRICK, VA – 24 CIAA men's and women's student-athletes who excel both on and off the court/field were selected as candidates today for the Lowe's CIAA Senior CLASS Award. Among the candidates are senior Trojans Nicholas Woolfolk and Bailee White.
Woolfolk, is a dual sport student-athlete, competing in football and baseball. As a scholar and member of the VSU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Woolfolk is a leader on the field, in the classroom and in the community.
White, an aspiring pediatrician nurse, is a scholar-athlete on the VSU women's basketball team. As the season progresses, White is working to stay with a champion mentality on and off the court and in the community.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be nominated by their respective universities, classified by the CIAA/NCAA as a senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for staying in school, the Lowe's CIAA Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. Each of the men's and women's candidates will be recognized in a series of virtual presentations, featuring CIAA Commissioner Jacqie McWilliams.
Lowe's is a proud partner of the CIAA and supports the conference's mission and values in helping student-athletes reach their full potential in both competition and the surrounding community. Award winners will be determined through a three-pronged balloting system that includes CIAA fans, media members representing the conference and other HBCU's, and the CIAA Management Council. Fan voting will begin January 11, 2022 and end February 11, 2022 and can be found at www.LowesCIAASCA.com, the winners will be announced in late February and will be presented with prestigious Senior CLASS award trophy.
