Box Score Ettrick, Va. (April 14, 2018) – The Virginia State University women's tennis team fell short in a contest against Bloomsburg University today at Burt Reese Tennis Center.
Saturday's clash was the first meeting between the two teams, with Bloomsburg securing the home 8-1 advantage. Today's matchup was not an easy task for the Trojans as they trailed 3-0 after doubles competition.
Bloomsburg's Cassidy Calimer and Vitoria Nerycame away with the 8-4 victory in the no.1 doubles competition. Isabella Sarquiz and Sienna Cerra secured a 8-5 victory, followed by Cassie Wentz and Chloe Berridge collecting a 8-1 win, giving BU a 3-0 advantage heading into singles competition.
Bloomsburg University secured five victories in the singles contest.
Felicia Tucker collected a 6-4, 6-1 victory at the No. 4 singles for Virginia State. The Trojans put up a fight but the Huskies were able to take the 8-1 match victory.
The Trojans will look to regroup as they prepare for the 2018 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Tennis Championship on April 19-21 host by Bowie State University.
