CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Virginia State University women's tennis team finished their season with a 12-5 overall record under the 2015 CIAA Women's Tennis Coach of the Year, Linda Person.
Coach Person has been named CIAA Women's Tennis Coach of the Year in 2004, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2013 and now 2015. She not only ensures that her team works hard on the courts, but in the classrooms as well. The team recently received the VSU Athletics Highest Team GPA Award with a collective 3.12 GPA.
On the court, the Trojans went into the 2015 CIAA Women's Tennis Championship seeded third among the other 10 institutions. VSU advanced to the next round after defeating Bowie State with a score of 5-0 on April 17. The Trojans fell short in the matchup against Shaw on April 18 with a score of 5-3.
Although the season is over, the Trojans will be on the courts on June 15-18 for the 2015 VSU Tennis Summer Camp.
