ETTRICK, Va.- The Virginia State University women's tennis program  has signed  Sydney Yao to join the Trojans for the 2016 season.

Yao is a native of Alexandria, Va. and a 2015 graduate of T.C. Williams High School.

The Weekly Babolat Recruiting List currently has Yao ranked 635^th in the nation, 90^th in the Mid-Atlantic and 9^th in Virginia.

The Alexandria Sportsman's' Club has also named Yao the 2015 Girls Tennis Athlete of the Year.
