Box Score CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The VSU Trojan women's basketball team fell short in the first round of NCAA Division II Playoffs with a final score of 86-75 against the California University of PA (Cal. U.) Vulcans on March 13.
The Trojans end their season with a 20-10 overall record, 19-10 NCAA record.
Senior
Tiffanie Adair led the game in scoring with 25 points. Senior
Jessica Lyons collected 18 points while senior
Da'Shae Jones tallied 10 points. Senior
DeAnna Waters and Adair were evenly matched under the basket leading the game with 9 rebounds each.
Although the Trojans had a slow run in the first half, they were strong under the basket collecting 15 defensive rebounds. Adair was consistent with layups which helped her led the half in scoring with 16 points. VSU shot 50% in field goals and 80% in free throws while the Vulcans took charge of the three pointers with 41.7%. The Trojans trailed at halftime 45-30.
VSU worked to regain their composer in the second half. In the first few minutes, the Trojans were able to close the scoring gap and get within 9 points of the Vulcans. Numerous fast plays by the Cal. U. caught the Trojans off guard, giving them several scoring setbacks. VSU was down by 16 with 1 minute left in regulation. After three good free throws by junior

Joi Settles, the Trojans were down by 11 points at the conclusion of the game.
The VSU women's basketball team had a great season giving VSU its fifth CIAA Tournament Championship while ninth year head coach
James Hill, Jr. earned his fourth 20 game winning season and an overall head coaching career record of 157-99.
