Emmanuel Haug Named a 2012 ITA Scholar Athlete

Virginia State University's Emmanuel Haug (senior/ Las Vegas, NV) was named a 2012 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar Athlete. Haug played number one singles and number one doubles positions for the Trojans tennis team in the 2011-12 season.

Haug majored in Biology/Pre-Med and earned a GPA of 3.9. He had an overall singles record of 7-13 with a 7-5 record in CIAA conference play. Haug and his doubles partner Nicholas Pfab finished with a 9-10 overall record with a 7-5 record in CIAA conference play.

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters (including freshman through senior year).

Johnson C. Smith University and Chowan University were the only other CIAA institutions to have student-athletes recognized fir this honor.
